In July 2022 the Central Bank of Egypt issued polymer banknotes for the first time. This milestone was the result of several years of effort and an ongoing partnership with De La Rue.

Since 2019 four Caribbean central banks have converted their banknotes to polymer.

In 2023 the Bank of Thailand issued the polymer 20 Baht banknotes as part of their vision to become the world’s leading producer and manager of highly secure, durable, and sustainable banknotes.

In 2021, the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) embarked on an ambitious initiative to modernise its currency. 

In 2022, the Central Bank of Barbados launched a new series of polymer banknotes, the first major redesign of the country’s national currency in nearly a decade.
