De La Rue, the world’s largest integrated commercial banknote printer has worked with Trinidad and Tobago in a variety of areas over the years and today supplies the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago with banknotes.
The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago launched a new $50 banknote to celebrate the country’s 50th Anniversary of Independence. Ruth Euling, Sales Director, De La Rue said; “ De La Rue was delighted to be given the opportunity to be part of the design of such a prestigious and important banknote for Trinidad and Tobago. I am sure that the long established relationship we have built with the islands over the past 50 years was an important factor in De La Rue being awarded this contract.”
The $50 note depicts on the front, the Red- Capped Cardinal Bird that is widely associated with Trinidad and Tobago and whose colours are those of the national flag, and on the back the Red House, the seat of national parliament. It also incorporates state-of-the-art security features including a holographic patch. A limited number of $50 notes carry the words “Celebrating 50 Years of Independence, 1962-2012” around the Coat of Arms to specifically commemorate this Anniversary of the Independence of Trinidad and Tobago.
Governor Ewart S. Williams of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago commented; “We are very pleased to partner with De La Rue in the design of the $50 note to commemorate this important anniversary.
