‘REGIONAL BANKNOTE OF THE YEAR AWARD 2013’ HAS BEEN PRESENTED TO THE RESERVE BANK OF FIJI FOR THEIR NEW BANKNOTE FAMILY THAT WAS DESIGNED AND PRINTED IN CLOSE COLLABORATION WITH DE LA RUE
London, 23 October 2013:
De La Rue is delighted to learn that the Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) was awarded the ‘Regional Banknote of the Year Award 2013’ for their new Flora and Fauna Banknote Series at the Asian, Middle East and African High Security Printing Conference that took place in Thailand earlier this month.
Deputy Governor Mr Inia R Naiyaga said “The Reserve Bank is extremely proud of this milestone achievement which belongs not only to the Bank but also to the people of Fiji. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Currency Design Committee comprising eminent Fijians for their excellent selection of Fiji’s unique flora and fauna; to note printers De La Rue Currency, United Kingdom and all stakeholders for their contribution towards the designing, production, launch and issuance of Fiji's new family of banknotes. The RBF is proud to be associated with contributing towards the preservation of natural biodiversity for future generations.”
The new flora and fauna designs are vibrant and colourful, consisting of 5 denominations including the lowest $5 which is the first note in the world to be produced on De La Rue’s Safeguard™ polymer substrate.
Commenting on the award, De La Rue’s Head of Design Alan Newman said “We are honoured to have worked with the Reserve Bank of Fiji on the creation of this exciting and imaginative new series.
