London, 13 July 2017: De La Rue has been selected by Note Printing Australia (NPA) for the development of the Polycarbonate Datapage for the next generation Australian passport.
Awarded last month (June 2017) following a highly competitive tender process, the contract is to develop Australia’s Polycarbonate bio datapage solution that will form part of Australia’s next generation passport.
The new book will be referred to as the “R series” (replacing the current “P” series) and is planned to launch in 2020. Manufactured by NPA, the “R” series will entail a complete redesign and reconstruction of the current document, placing it firmly at the leading edge of passport and polycarbonate technology.
Key to this new book will be the fact that it will deliver world-leading counterfeit resistance. Speaking about the award to De La Rue, Malcolm McDowell the CEO of NPA commented: "we selected De La Rue as our partner as we enter this new technology platform, as they understand our goals and vision for the development."
Martin Sutherland, De La Rue Chief Executive Officer said: “The award of this contract is extremely important to De La Rue. We understand how critical secure identity documents are for our customers around the world, and in particular for NPA. This award builds on our existing relationship with NPA. It is also a fantastic endorsement of our growth strategy as we invest in enhanced technology platforms and polycarbonate bio-data page capability.”
