Pre Press Process Operative (Platemaking) (Grade 5)

Selected candidates will be trained across the different sections in the department in the positions mentioned below and will be expected to work flexibly across the different sections according to the Prepress Department’s exigencies. The sections of the Prepress Department are (with a non-exhaustive simple description in brackets): Digital Platemaking (manufacturing of polymer plates), Intaglio Platemaking (manufacturing of nickel plates), Roller Room (recovery and finishing of schablon and wiper rollers), Ink Mill (manufacturing of ink) and Aquasave (ensuring timely supply of wiping solution to Intaglio presses).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Have an O level standard of education in Chemistry, Maths or Physics or equivalent. MCAST certification in Applied Sciences or equivalent would be considered an asset.

  • Be able to communicate fluently and clearly in Maltese and English, and have good interpersonal skills.

  • Be flexible in their approach to work yet adhere to a ‘right first time’ mentality.

  • Display a positive attitude to change, and work with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Possess experience within a Lean Manufacturing environment, with that obtained in a FMCG environment being an asset.

  • Have a good work ethic, embrace and promote teamwork, and have a drive to obtain skill and knowledge of the work environment.

  • Be disciplined in their approach towards a secure and safe environment.

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • GCSE (Or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C or above

  • Experience in manufacturing operations

  • Technical aptitude, either formal or experiential

  • Process Knowledge

  • Quality Training

  • HSE and Security awareness

  • Change Over (SMED) and SOP training

  • Ability to train others

  • Problem Solving

  • 8 wastes & Continuous Improvement training
