Planning Manager

Role Purpose:

The Operations Planning Manager coordinates and expedites the flow of work on the shop floor ensuring daily production requirements are achieved to meet customer expectations. The Operations Planning Manager is also responsible that the plan reflects the Customer Demands and aligned with the planning of material and lead times with Procurement and Shipping teams to make sure there is balance between Supply and Demand in a fast paced environment thus directing the site’s strategic approach and manage short and medium term goals.

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Makes sure that a workable production programme (both short and long term) that reflects work content, accurate data and agreed availabilities with MPS in line with customer demands in respect to all Divisions is created on time
  • Be first point of contact for operations planning to address issues and discuss possible changes and updates
  • Be able to align with changes in demand and priorities which are tackled with other local functions linked to Commercial and Delivery teams in Head Office
  • Be able to apply changes and agree with both Procurement and Shipping teams in view of material requirement changes due to high possibilities of changes within the plans of various BU’s
  • Forecast spikes in production and share with Procurement and Warehouse teams to adjust kanban value accordingly and be able to assist the inventory forecast data to achieve budget expectations
  • Analyse production specifications and plant capacity data through the site’s planning software, identify gaps and under utilisation and prepare scenarios based on the forecast and material availability to maximise capacity
  • Perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools and human resources when instant changes are required
  • Plan and expedite workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times. Data analysis and decision making to support raw material supply and finished goods demand
  • Ensure that the information for the execution of the production programme is available to all stakeholders when required
  • Ensure that data from various BU’s is constantly up to date and available on time to enable decision taking processes to take place quickly and efficiently
  • Confers with department supervisors / managers to determine status of assigned projects on the go due to short runs and quick changeovers
  • Complete status reports for production progress, work in progress and projections required
  • Interacts with shop floor management on a daily basis to resolve issues regarding manufacturing in/efficiencies
  • Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
  • Assist in budget preparations to determine best scenario outcome from availability and load plan
  • Ensure that the team follows the manufacturing process and that the proper schedule is being kept to
  • Ensure team updates volumes on a daily basis to keep plan reading as close as possible to real time data
  • Liaise with R&D and Central planning on trials being planned for the Malta Site
  • Supports the behaviour of working as One De La Rue, sharing best practice and collaborating with colleagues outside of own sphere of business
  • Ensures full participation in the performance development review (PDR) process and maintain an up to date record of all training and development activities/programs

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree / Diploma in Management or another area of studies would be considered an asset
  • Experience in data driven decision making
  • Manufacturing experience desirable
  • Ability to organize large amounts of information into a coherent and meaningful format while working on multiple prospects simultaneously
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in other Microsoft Office products and scheduling software an asset
  • Commitment to lead, coordinate and supervise cross functional team efforts
  • Possess the ability to gain the confidence and credibility of others
  • Independent worker who is able to work well with minimal supervision
  • Fast learner with ability to work well under stress
  • Logistics Experience would be an asset
