Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor

Zejtun, Malta

Role Purpose:

To manage improve Health, Safety and Environmental standards throughout the factory. Ensures site personnel and processes conform to existing and new legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate accidents and near misses and to assist in risk assessments and their recording and review
  • To implement & maintain through audit, a robust system that safeguards the health & safety of all employees, visitors & contractors and also minimise site’s environmental impacts
  • Manage the applicable risk assessment programmes and related activities (generic, machinery, manual handling, COSHH, etc...)Advise on and arrange relevant H&S training aimed at reducing risk and employee development
  • Co-ordinate and run Main Factory HSE Meeting – and give input to local departmental meetings & inspections as required
  • Liaison with Head Office for specialist support and external agencies requiring HSE input
  • Review new and existing equipment and processes to ensure H&S standards are maintained
  • Conduct HSE projects & process improvement activities relevant to HSE
  • To be responsible for the HSE budget, decide & action any items required to create as well as maintain safe systems of work
  • Train and develop employees
  • To understand the principles and comply with practices of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Continuous Improvement
  • To always act and behave in a way compliant with all De La Rue company guidelines and policies, especially those relating to Environmental Health and Safety, ethics and codes of conduct

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree standard of education
  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Environmental Management
  • Experience in managing Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment
