The Finishing Process Operative (FPO) is a flexible multi-skilled manufacturing operative role, which is key to ensuring self-sufficiency of a manufacturing team. The role forms part of a team of operatives on one cell/line on a shift, within one of the main business units of the site. The Process Operative may also be expected to take higher responsibility in absence of the Process Leader.


Key responsibilities:

  • Safety and Security awareness ensuring a zero incident mentality.
  • Process Control and Right First Time Quality. Accurately completes Quality checks and Quality documentation
  • Continuous Improvement 
  • Productivity
  • Manufacturing performance to plan on an hourly/daily/shift/week basis including problem resolution 
  • Autonomous Maintenance. Plan and execute daily maintenance routines. 
  • Changeovers within standard 
  • Process Documentation sustained
  • Training/mentoring of colleagues
  • Problem solving & root cause analysis
  • Material Control & reconciliation
  • Pack final product using the Track and Trace systems (Certify, MSL, GPS, Sage etc...)
  • Perform in line and end of line checks as per product criteria and record data in QIS
  • Material management, WIP management, WIP room upkeep and requisitions for materials to meet production volumes
  • Use of Track and Trace software to manage perso and packing
  • Tracks material, personal clocking, production figures, make readies and other production data in the ERP (Sage X3 SFDC)
  • Engaging in 8 wastes reduction initiatives and Operational Excellence training/projects.
  • To understand the principles and comply with practices of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Continuous Improvement.

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • GCSE (Or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C or above
  • Experience in manufacturing operations
  • Technical aptitude, either formal or experiential
  • Process Knowledge

  • HSE and Security awareness
  • Change Over (SMED) and SOP training
  • Ability to train others
