3D holograms are also known as Lippman holographic solutions. Lippmann holograms are extremely difficult to counterfeit because of its capability of storing dynamic images, including animation. Lippmann holograms use unique materials which are difficult to buy and require expensive equipment to produce. Holograms can be customised to a range of authentication solutions in order to fit brand and packaging needs.
The Lippmann hologram is based on an old colour photographic technique called interferential photography or Lippmann photography. It was invented in 1891 by Gabriel Lippmann. He was awarded the 'Nobel Physics Prize' for his invention in 1908. Lippmann photography was the first technique, which could record colour photographs directly in the camera.
