De La Rue Announces New ECB Recycling Framework Upgrade For Its Market Leading Recycler

De La Rue is proud to announce its forthcoming European Recycling Framework (ERF) upgrade for the market leading TCR Twin Safe®. The Company will be offering its customers an upgrade path for the many TCR Twin Safe machines installed in bank branches across Europe, enabling banks to become compliant with the ECB's framework with their existing teller cash recycling technology.
As part of the De La Rue Authenticator Series™, the upgraded machine will be known as the TCR Twin Safe VERTERA™.ERF; the upgrade uses the same significantly enhanced authentication and fitness sorting capabilities as the recently launched VERTERA™ teller cash recycler.
De La Rue has incorporated its proven Secure Document Analysis technology complete with sophisticated full width banknote detection into this upgrade, ensuring that advanced banknote authentication and fitness sorting is now possible in bank branches already equipped with De La Rue's technology.
The upgrade will be available for both the standard and reduced height variants of the TCR Twin Safe with both models having recently passed the European Central Bank's testing framework. All authentication and fitness criteria required under the Framework were met with a high level of accuracy.

Framework for recycling banknotes
The possibility of recycling Euro banknotes enables credit institutions and other professional cash handlers to perform their role in the currency supply in a more effective and cost-efficient manner. In order to avoid competitive distortions and to enable harmonised standards on banknote recycling within the euro area, the Eurosystem has agreed on a general framework to be applied for the entire euro area. The framework covers credit institutions and other professional cash handlers and lays down clear requirements for banknote recycling and, in particular, common rules for the detection of counterfeits and minimum standards for fitness checks of euro banknotes.
